I worked on this design for a long time before deciding to go with this final artwork. We knew we wanted a black widow character, I also knew I wanted her to have the 8 legs, the spider dress, and her little parasol. But trying to get all of the elements into the confines of the tshirt proved to be the biggest challenge. As you can see below is my process as I reworked the character until I got her just how I wanted. Originally she had a veil that looked too much like a 'sexy nun.' Once I figure out the mesh veil, I realized she was looking too much like our Queen of Hearts design. So I reworked her again posing her from the side, which worked out great as I added the bustle which doubled as a spider's abdomen.
