The Joker Oil Painting :: Part 7 (Done)

Posted on January 30 2011

Finally completed my first oil painting. I had a huge 2 month gap where I wanted to give up, but then I realized I was just missing black and purple paint to move forward. So here it is "The Joker" done in oil on canvas. I'm looking forward to starting a new project as I learned so much through doing this one. If you would like to purchase this art piece feel free to email me. My asking price is 325$.

    Hey Allen,

Thanks for liking this piece. I just added some updated photos to this post.

When I did this piece I had never touched a paintbrush or oils previously. And after working on about 5-6 pieces since then, my best advice is to just start painting. Every canvas is a learning experience and only in doing it will you learn something. You can learn mediums and stuff, but that comes later as you fall down the rabbit hole of trying to accomplish something specific. But to start just search youtube videos, that’s what I did. Good luck ;)

Hello. I was just looking on google images at paintings. Acrylic and oil mostly. I have always wanted to get into painting. My dad is an amazing artist. He was never around to teach me though. I was looking at your painting of the joker and I cant believe that its your first oil painting. Im obsessed with the joker and If I had the money, I would hang that up in my recording studio. The piece is equivalent to the Mona Lisa. Im not even trying to gas you up. The colors suit the joker perfectly. If and when I decide to jump into oil painting, what advice can you give me? I hae had a question for a while. How do you decide how thin you want your paint when adding mediums. We’ll thats it really. Just wanted to give you some recognition for your work. Keep it up
