Captain Jack Sparrow Sketch
I'm going to be honest with you and show you a breakdown of how I look at my drawings. This is how I tear myself apart, hopefully in a means to better myself. Below you will find my sketch of Captain Jack Sparrow which I though was totally 'not-so-bad' when I drew it last night. I was pretty sure the proportions were all dead on except I knew I had drawn the eyes a bit too big. Well if you want the truth the only way you can find out is by overlaying the original image onto your drawing. So under this sketch you will find my breakdown:
On the left is my sketch with an outline overlayed of where everything should go. On the topright is the original image I used, and on the bottom right is what my drawing should more or less look like if everything was in the right place. Obviously as an artist you would expect to give yourself 'artistic freedom' to draw the subject as you see it, but since this is just for practice I don't want to accept this as 'good enough,' everything's a learning experience and this is just a way to better my skills.
