Jack Layton
Unfortunately Canada lost a great man, Jack Layton. He was the leader of the New Democratic Party from 2003 to 2011. Layton died on August 22, 2011, aged 61, after suffering from an undisclosed type of cancer. While going to bed the first night of the convention we saw candles and funeral cars moving around outside our hotel room. We found out the next day that it was Jack Layton's funeral progression.
