We're almost getting to the end of this piece. I see a few more things I need to do to get it to where I want it before I'm ready to hand it over to it's new owners. I watched a lot of youtube videos to get more tips and techniques down. I learned so much on this piece, but...

I'm using a very different technique this time around than on my last pieces. It's obviously giving me a very different look as well. I think in the end I'll be reaching a similar look with my painterly brushstrokes and pallet knife, but my colour pallet will attempt to be more photoreal than what I've done in the past.

Another huge learning experience from my last attempt. Built up a lot more contrast, finally had a bit more courage to just attack the canvas rather than let the paint take over. I watched so many youtube oil painting tutorials and time lapses that it helped build up my confidence to do this better. Also discovered some really good oil...

Almost done. I think I need another few hours where I just really focus and finish up this piece. I don't have black or purple paint and I think that has been making me not care to finish this piece. Also I'm not as awesome as I'd like to be with a brush in creating fine hair details. I've learned...

My next step is really going to have to be about making that hair and background come to life as I let the face set. Loving this.

Latest update on my latest Joker painting. Just need to add highlights in the eyes/lips/hair. And then all that's left is putting on the sealer and I'm done! Really happy with the transformation.

Was able to get a lot done on this gorgeous Saturday morning. Working in the kitchen be the backdoor to enjoy the warm autumn weather. So I had made some mention that I was working on a new Joker painting. Here is my current progress. Still building up base layers and blocking in colours and shadows. Tiny's just watching me from outside while he cuddles with his Winnie the Pooh plushie.

I think the next time will be the last touches I'll be putting on this painting. I just need to fix the hairline and add more detail to the hair. I would love to work on it now but the deal with oils is that the paint stays wet for 2-3 days. Can't believe 3 weeks already went by before...
