I liked the effect of saturating the colours from last month’s release. So I did it again for this month’s earlier release.
Get: The Undertaker (men)
Get: The Queen of Hearts (women)
Last week I listened to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as well as Alice Through the Looking Glass on audible.com. This was the first time hearing the original story, as opposed to the Disney version. Since then I feel like I’ve been falling down the rabbit hole and collecting pieces of info which I never knew existed. One being that the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts are two different characters. As I get lost in the story of Alice as well as Lewis Carroll, the author, I keep finding more and more interesting things. Here is a video from the Disney movie the animators used to style their animation off of. Fascinating.
It never gets old to see happy customers, whether they are just finding out about us or have been fans of ours since the beginning! Dora and I always enjoy seeing your smiling faces, shaking hands, and signing your shirts, stickers, hangtags or prints. We just really appreciate those of you that love our stuff and support us to continue to run Akumu Ink and create art. Without all of you, none of this would be possible. Here are a few photos from awesome people that picked up shirts from us over the weekend.
Here’s a photo of Dora with Tina and Louise from Bob’s Burgers:
That’s me with the Mad Hatter:
Alice in Wonderland is obviously a huge inspiration to us. I have been trying to figure out how to do my own version of the Queen of Hearts for a long time. I’ll post later on how this design was supposed to look before I cancelled it an turned it into this. Thanks again to the band Reflectionless for giving us permission to use another one of their epic tracks as the background music to this animation.
It took me 2-4 hours to figure out the initial walk cycle. Then the program crashed and I lost everything. Then it took 1-2 hours to figure out how to redo everything from the walk to exporting the video from imovie. Quite pleased with how this little guy turned out. Special thanks to the band Reflectionless for letting us use their sick music!

When we rebooted the brand 2 years ago (already) we had kept a bunch of the same original designs. At the time we felt they were strong enough to introduce to the entire world. Some of those designs are still available on our website and in production, but some have fallen off and are slowly being picked off one at a time until there will be none left. In the meantime we’ve been introducing tons of new pieces, our print runs have gotten smaller so they are lasting a lot less time. Because of the people we work with we’ve been able to produce new designs for almost the same cost to reprint old designs, in this case we are now excited to continue producing newer stuff. Anyways, enough of that. Let’s now pay homage to these deceased designs:
The Juggler: This design was created after watch Dark Knight. The original concept was always, what would the Joker wear when not his purple outfit? Original post here.
The Investigation: This was originally part of these very adult/abstract concepts I was doing when we started along with the original Faceless and Ripper designs. Original post here.
Soul Seeker: Released in Feb 2011, this was one of the later designs before our reboot. I was inspired by what artist Godmachine was doing at the time, and wanted to try a design in that style. This is probably why this design feels like it doesn’t really fit in with everything else. Here’s the original post.
The Mummy: Originally released alongside the Juggler design as a 1 colour purple design. This design was originally called Suffocate. Find original post here.
Here are some beautiful close up shots of our latest akumuink.com releases. You can just see how fine the detailing has been captured from my original artwork into the print. Every line looks like it was scratched directly into the fabric. So check out these 2 beautiful new badass shirts.

Thanks to all of you who came out to see us at the Montreal ComicCon this past weekend and picked up some of our shirts. And we’re happy that many more of you found out about us for the first time as well. We were blown away by how many people already knew our brand, by how many people were wearing Akumu Ink tshirts around the show, and by how much they respected our art and concepts. It’s for all of you that we push on, and it’s especially because of you that we can keep creating and going forward. Below are a few photos from the show:
As seen at a distance:
The next 3 images are those that picked up our Beetlejuice (Betelgeuse) limited edition prints. Only the 3 first people that showed up to our booth each day wearing our tees could receive one of these prints:
The following set of images are shots of just a few amazing people that stopped by our booth wearing Akumu Ink shirts they had just bought this weekend, as well as from previous ComicCons or on our website.
These 2 shirts are unreleased on our website and are only available through our 1 year VAULT Subscription. Or through the few retailers carrying our shirts, or for the weekends that we setup a booth at comiccon in your town.
